  • Save budget for project resources.
• 1) Current projects and allocation presented in the Morning session
  • 1.1) Are we happy with the current situation?: general impression about current situation.
    • Juri: Not a problem for juri. Could has carried out project work on his own. Better utilizing SH resource.
    • Thomas: Ok for now. In the past, a bit overloaded with past projects. Concern with future projects. Many are not research related. Wish to have more time for research related.
    • Muerzel: Lack of reseach slots in past project. Wish to have interested research projects. Things are better currently but still need more resource for research.
    • Manzoor: Satisfied with current situation. More innovative work.
    • Sebastien: Can manage with current situation, although a project Uloop is mostly impementation.
    • Stefan: have few room research.Projects has strict planning. But things are fine.

      • Nadim: Overloaded before easter. Loop project is not of interess, also finalizing work for Smartsenior. Want to avoid projects that don't make financial or strategical sense.

      Discussion:

• Fikret generally sees the difficulties. He himself still involves with project work. Some allocations were due to unseen needs and are not easy to change.

    • Muerzel find room to lead project according to interess. Though not allways doable.

  • Nadim want to find solution for political projects. Shift PM if financially possible to get rid of political project.
  • Thomas stresses financial constraints when there are 3 more WM positions.

    • Fikret agree with the shifting if its financially possible but need to generate more feasible project.
    • 4) Mapping Personnel, vision and mission, clusters
    • Nadim:
    • Stefan feels that he is in the right cluster.
    • Sebastien: 50/50 that his projects are in right mapping/cluster.
    • Manzoor: his cluster fits his research.
    • Muerzel: 50%.
    • Thomas: OK at the moment
    • Juri: not clear about cluster but feels generally fine.
    • Fikret: works in different clusters. Feel happy in general and ready to involve in projects but personnally want freedom in doing research.

    Discussion:

  • Nadim: try to define margin and try to create room.
• 5) Resource allocation matrix?
  • Nadim suggest mechanism of mapping like better plan of resource or rewarding system. Plan also idle slot in allocation matrix.
  • Stefan: ok although mostly occupied with implementation task.
  • Fikret thinks the matrix should be updated once per month. Try to increase research project by being proactive and project proposals. Everyone should thinks of benefit for team. Reduce internal handover due to reallocation or member's leave.

    • Nadim suggest flexibility to adapt with member's leave.
    • Thomas concerns with planning new WM.
• 6) Upcoming: new WMs new projects.
  • General concern with fewer funded projects and more WM position. Fikret suggests more active in making proposal to avoid having to do political projects.

    • Use avalable slot to also work on project proposals beside only work on thesis.

    Nadim's sumup: Everyone is unhappy with political projects. We are financed but need to make more proposals to get more interesting projects. New WMs will do implementing work, offload senior researchers while gaining experience. Manzoor is happy in the extend of his personal interest. He wishes to do the guiding and taking care of research and teaching. Fikret plan to offload Stefan with M2M work by allocation new WMs. Ideally 70% implementing and 30% researching. Fikret commit with the support of WM's research work and try to offload. He also appeals WM to try to complete assigned tasks and be aware of the contract.
